NFEC Mission of the ANZ Chapter
The National Financial Educators Council is all about helping people across the ANZ region build the confidence and know how they need to improve their financial well being. To make that happen, we bring together a wide mix of financial wellness champions from around the world and give them the tools, training, and support they need to guide others toward greater financial stability in their own communities.
We focus on creating high quality standards, developing research-backed learning materials, and teaming up with schools, workplaces, and community groups to expand programs that have already proven their value. By tracking results and continually improving our approach, we make sure our efforts lead to real, lasting progress in people’s financial lives.
High Education Standards, Real Social Impact
The ANZ Chapter is dedicated to advancing financial educators who serve the community and are held to the highest professional and educational standards. By supporting educator training, professional development, and evidence-based instruction, the chapter helps ensure financial education programs deliver meaningful learning experiences and measurable improvements in people’s financial lives.
History
The National Financial Educators Council (NFEC) began its work in 2006 in the United States with a clear mission: elevate the quality, credibility, and real‑world impact of financial education. What started as a nationwide effort to provide financial educators with structured training, practical curriculum tools, and meaningful professional recognition has since evolved into a global movement focused on strengthening financial capability around the world.
Today, Certified Financial Education Instructor (CFEI®) graduates are making a difference in communities across more than 100 countries. The first chapters in the ANZ region emerged in 2011, when educators in Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea joined the earliest international cohorts of the CFEI program. Because core principles of effective personal finance instruction – behavior‑based learning, real‑life application, and outcome‑driven teaching – translate across borders, these early chapters helped lay the groundwork for NFEC’s broader international expansion.
As global interest in financial capability continues to rise, the NFEC partners with regional leaders to widen access to high‑quality financial education while honoring local cultures, economic realities, and policy environments. Through this collaborative approach, the NFEC supports the development of strong financial literacy ecosystems and advances economic empowerment throughout the ANZ region.
